Why New Ulm?


New Ulm has the right mix of quality low cost labor, low cost land, quality of life, infrastructure capacities and tax free zones. These companies know the answer to “Why New Ulm?”

Palm Beach Marinecraft, manufacturer of aluminum pontoon boats, relocated to New Ulm to increase their growth potential. Palm Beach bought a vacant 91,000 s.f. facility. Loan packaging was provided
including junior loans from the City and the State.
  American Artstone, a manufacturer of pre-cast architectural concrete, expanded into a new 45,000 s.f. facility after looking at relocating to another community. The City provided a junior loan and Tax Increment Financing.
  Canyon Outback, a distributor of value added promotional leather goods, constructed a 14,000 s.f. facility to accommodate growth. The City provided Tax Increment Financing.
  Parker Hannifin purchased MTS Automation and relocated operations from California into their 80,000 s.f. facility. NUEDC constructed and leased the facility to MTS until the Parker purchase. The City provided Tax Increment Financing.
  Beacon Promotions, an imprinter and distributor of promotional products, began operations in late 2003 and quickly ramped up to 50 employees. The City and the State provided a junior loans. NUEDC provided a ramped lease structure on the facility.  Most recently Beacon expanded its operations by adding a 15,000 s.f. addition and now employs over 70 people.  The addition was a JOBZ project.
  August Schell's Brewing recently purchased the Grain Belt label, doubling it’s production. To expand capacity, Shells has expanded it’s bottling and keg storage areas, it’s warehouse and most recently constructed an all new museum, tap room and gift shop.
  AMPI, a dairy COOP with annual sales of approximately $2 billion, expanded it’s butter plant capacity with the help of a land swap by the City. AMPI’s corporate headquarters is also located in New Ulm.  Most recently AMPI rebuilt the majority of it's butter plant after a fire, bringing the 160 employess back to work
  Firmenich, a manufacturer of food flavors, food additives, perfumes and chemicals, added a 24,000 s.f. warehouse and laboratory to increase capacity and meet customer demands.
  Kraft Foods added a new product line to produce Oscar Mayer Snack Lunchables. Kraft also received Tax Increment Financing assistance to expand it’s refrigerated warehouse by 40,000 s.f.
  Medallion Cabinetry constructed a 60,000 square foot factory in the Airport Industrial Park to produce doors, face fronts and drawer boxes for their cabinets.  Medallion received a write down on the land and JOBZ tax exemptions.
